Assignment 1_MMC6994 | Establish Social Media Accounts and Persona for The Course
As part of
establishing new social media accounts for MMC6994, I wavered on establishing
an identity that could be used for future professional or corporate identities,
but ultimately decided to use the persona of a returning student looking to
learn a new trade in the Communications Management program. Concerns about revealing too much personal
information and creating potential online conflicts with my existing Facebook
and Twitter accounts played a part into how much detail went into various biographical
components of each page. I decided to take a neutral, professional approach
that is consistent with what is on my previously established personal pages –
but with an eye toward academic pursuits.
When establishing
my blog, I chose to create one that is focused on the area of Communication
Management that I would like to hone over the course of the program; Corporate
Crisis Communications. I look forward to
using this blog to track progress, thoughts and assignments that will get me
closer to the goal of seguing my career from banking to a more formal communications,
or public relations role within large organizations. All accounts were created to be publicly
viewed by peers in the program, whom I don’t know personally and will more than
likely only interact with them virtually throughout the semester.
